In the middle of the night and just weeks before Halloween, police say an individual donning a werewolf mask robbed two stores in Prince George's County.

The suspect was assisted by an unmasked man.

The robberies were reported during the early morning hours of Oct. 5 on Allentown Road in Fort Washington and Old Branch Avenue in Clinton.

University Lecturer Photographs Real Life Fairies in British Countryside

A university lecturer is claiming to have photographed fairies flying through the air in the British countryside.

John Hyatt, 53, says his series of photos which were taken over the past two years prove the tiny winged creatures do exist in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire.

Mr Hyatt, Director of Manchester Institute for Research and Innovation in Art and Design (MIRIAD) at Manchester Metropolitan University insists his photos are genuine and have not been altered in any way.

Mr Hyatt, who was a member of the Three Johns punk band in the 1980s and 1990s, says adults that have seen his photos have started to harbour ideas that they may indeed be real.

He said: 'It was a bit of a shock when I blew them up, I did a double take.

'I went out afterwards and took pictures of flies and gnats and they just don’t look the same.

'People can decide for themselves what they are.

'The message to people is to approach them with an open mind.

'I think it’s one of those situations where you need to believe to see.

'A lot of people who have seen them say they have brought a little bit of magic into their lives and there’s not enough of that around.'

Mr Hyatt, who lives Rawtenstall, has posted some of his images on social media and says they have attracted much debate.

The exhibition, called Rossendale Fairies, will be on show at The Whitaker Museum in Whitaker Park in Rossendale, throughout the spring.

Mr Hyatt said the name is a nod to the famous story of the Cottingley fairies where two schoolgirls in Bradford claimed to have photographed fairies in their garden, which they confirmed 60 years later had been faked with cardboard cut-outs.

However he admits the creatures he snapped are a long way from the characters depicted in children’s stories and hopes his pictures will change people’s perceptions of them. 'Everything gets stereotyped, whatever it is.

'But there are stranger things in life than fairies, and life grows everywhere.

'I don’t believe they are just smaller versions of us and go home and have a cup of tea at the end of the day.

'And one is suggesting they have any special powers.

'From my experience they were just enjoying themselves and there was a little dance in the sunlight going on.

'They are just beautiful pictures and beauty can make people believe.'

A photographer has revealed a snap he believes shows the "monstrous head" of the Loch Ness Monster.

Jonathan Bright travelled from his home in Greece to speak at a Paranormal Festival in Scotland about his brush with the infamous creature of the deep.

And after the event in Stirling he returned to the 22 square-mile water in the hope of a second 'sighting'.

Snapper Jonathan only discovered the beastly swimmer's photo-bomb months after his trip to the Highlands.

The photographer wrote on his blog: "The first time that I had noticed the 'object' (or maybe I should say 'head', at least as I interpret the image) was actually several months after my return from that trip and the initial review of my photos."

Many online enthusiasts believe Jonathan's snap is the real deal while others have dismissed it as simply a wave or possible photo manipulation.

Jonathan has argued at length against both alternative interpretations.

And he told ScotlandNow: "My travels for exploring legends and investigating mysterious phenomena have taken me to various places in Europe, but nowhere else have I felt so enchanted and connected with the place as at the mysterious Loch Ness.

"It was only a brief trip in the Highlands, but on the day that I was actually cruising the Loch, my infrared camera had captured a picture that, in my opinion, proves that the ‘monster’ is much more than a tall tale.

Crews in Chicago Have Been Pulling Zombies Out Of Lake Michigan

November 2014 - Halloween may long be over, but that hasn't stopped zombies from haunting Lake Michigan in Chicago. The dearly undead has been floating about since the unfortunate mishap on Halloween night.

Giving the citizens a true taste of the scary holiday, Chicago braved heavy winds that resulted in causing record high 21-foot waves in some parts of the lakeshore and flooding nearby areas on Halloween.

Owing to Lake Michigan spilling into the adjacent Lakeshore Drive and huge swaths of Chicago's beaches disappearing beneath the waves in what is dubbed as the "Halloween Howler", the city officials even had to close down part of the Lake Michigan and adjacent Lake Shore Drive in the afternoon.

A floating haunted house on the Navy Pier, however, could not be saved from sinking. While over 50 zombies have been pulled out over the course of the week, rescue crews are still hard at work.


Owner of the zombie containment, John LaFlamboy told WGN as he watched divers pull out the 10 large containers that made up the thousand-dollar haunted house, "It's an unbelievable amount of effort that went into it with, painters, prop-builders, costume makers, artists of all variety put their.. life into this thing... So to watch it sink was very heartbreaking for a lot of us."

The high winds and waves "battered it, and battered it until she couldn't take it anymore," says a disheartened LaFlamboy.

After the drowning of the floating haunted house, officials closed down other attractions as well, including the Ferris wheel, Grand Ballroom and East End Plaza.

"It's easily one of the craziest things I have ever seen," says Teila Halpin, who helped build the floating haunted house, as she watched the zombies get pulled out of Lake Michigan by the rescue workers in awe. "Watching them pull it out and just the state that they're all in, its mind boggling the destructive power of nature, and of water," Haplin relates. Lake Park man arrested after confronting girlfriend for 'casting spells'

A Lake Park man was charged with assault on Tuesday after he admitted to confronting his girlfriend over the possibility of her trying to "cast a spell on him."

Rubin Leonard Hugee, 29, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery.

The girlfriend was holding her hands to her face and crying, according to the probable cause affidavit. 

The 28-year-old woman, whose name is withheld in the affidavit, told officers she had gone to her godmother's house seeking relationship advice when Hugee showed up and began to argue. She said that Hugee grabbed her by her hair, grabbed a knife and pulled her to the front door.

 The woman's godmother told officers that while Hugee held the knife, he was saying that "he was going to kill" his girlfriend, according to the affidavit. After he was taken into custody, Hugee said his girlfriend's godmother is a "Root Lady" and that he went to her home because of the possibility that his girlfriend was trying to "cast a spell on him," the affidavit stated. He admitted to getting into an argument and grabbing his girlfriend, but denies ever holding knife and threatening her with it.  -Palm Beach Post

Zombie Robs Pizza Shop in Lancaster County

Police in Lancaster County are looking for a man who robbed a pizza shop at gunpoint while wearing a zombie mask.

East Lampeter Township police say the suspect entered the the Little Caesars on the 1600 block of Route 462 on Sunday night.

Police say the suspect got away with some cash and ran off.

Werewolf Robs Franklin Home

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Franklin are looking for a masked man who they say broke into a local home early Friday morning.

Franklin City Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Traditions Court around 1 a.m. to investigate a robbery that had just happened.

The victim told police the front door was kicked open and that they were confronted by the suspect in a bedroom. Police say the suspect made threats to the victim and demanded their purse and phone.

The suspect — described as a man, approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a stocky build — was wearing all black and a werewolf mask. Police say the man took off on foot.

Police and K-9 officers searched the area but didn’t find anyone.
